Arnie was well-written during its first year. A favorite episode of mine concerned a malady that one often associates with executives--the ulcer, which began plaguing Arnie a few months after leaving his position at the loading dock. A favorite line from the episode concerned Arnie's comments about the bland diet that he now had to follow: "Now I know how they cure an ulcer...they poison it." His boss, Mr. Majors, couldn't understand why Arnie began contemplating leaving his executive position simply for "the mundane satisfaction of eating and drinking." Thing worked out happily at the end of the episode. Arnie, it turned out, didn't have an ulcer. Several of his former loading dock buddies, all members of the same bowling team as Arnie, began experiencing similar symptoms. Arnie, with a little help from his doctor, finally realized that the malady was temporary anxiety--brooding about an upcoming bowling championship game. Arnie's team lost the game, but took it in stride. "It's just a game. At least we got our health!" proclaimed Arnie's buddy Julius at the end of the episode.
