    Favorite episodes of Lancer

I watched Lancer religiously every week with my sister during its first run. She was a Scott fan and I adored Johnny. We both wished we could be Teresa (lucky girl). My favorite episode was and still is Chase a Wild Horse. A pure Johnny episode made all the more delectable by that scene near the beginning where he is mending a fence: that unforgettable shirtless scene still makes me go weak at the knees now. My favorites are the pilot - High Riders - which sets the scene, then I like Chase a Wild Horse, Warburton's Edge and Legacy which give a feel for all the characters.

How wonderful to meet another fan of James Stacey. My fav episode was the one in which Johnny was blinded - my eyes still fill with tears at the ending where the girl went off with her father and J ran after her.

The first episode was the best I thought. Johnny and Scott had a bit of conflict, being half brothers and so different, but it lost some edge when they made friends with each other and Murdoch. It was a good show anyway though.

    Re: Favorite episodes of Lancer

A favorite episode? has to be Chase a Wild Horse. James Stacy as Johnny Lancer and Andrew Duggan as Murdoch Lancer were superb in this one. After a short time on the ranch, Johnny is feeling the effects of being "tied down" to one place. His old life of being free, of going where he wants , when he wants, staying as long as he wants is still there to call him.. A pocket watch given to Johnny by his father to tell him what time to be somewhere is the start of Johnny willing getting to know just who he is Johnny Lancer or his former self Johnny Madrid. Thoughout the show , the watch places a big part in the show as I think it is a symbol of which life Johnny wants the most. IF he keeps it , then family and the ranch is more important to him, IF he never gets it back, then the freelife style he had before with no one to be responsible for or to. No one to worry about,no one to worry about him. Wayne Maunder also played the older brother Scott to the hilt in this one also.. Showing his concern for his brother and trying to get the two most stubborn people he has ever met to give just a little. It did make a hugh impact on a lot of people in its short run of 51 episodes.

    Re: Favorite episodes of Lancer

I love many of the Lancer episodes, I have trouble fixing on a favourite. Blind Mans Bluff, Chase a wild horse, Camp Juniper, The Homecoming/Pilot because he needs a home and someone to love him and he finds his family, Legacy, the boys looking for their father, worrying about him, Murdoch arriving in time to stop Johnny killing the Sherrif. The one where Johnny teaches in school comes to mind and I can't remember the title. And many, many more. To sum up I love Johnny 'Madrid' Lancer and the gang from the Lancertvgroup. Thank you James Stacy!

    Re: Favorite episodes of Lancer

Thirty years later I still remember entire segments from Lancer episodes featuring Wayne Maunder as Scott Lancer. The absolute best show was the one entitled "The Buscaderos", in which Scott is mistaken for his gunfighter brother(and lets his startled father Murdoch know this when he tells him to "take it from me, Johnny Madrid".) But the most memorable lines are delivered right before Scott faces the Gatling gun. When the "bad guy" Drago tells him about some outlaws who were spared from death when the rope broke at their hanging, Scott responds with: "The rope won't break for me." WM was certainly nice to look at, but it was that voice and his delivery that really stayed with me. I loved WM/SL in "Legacy" and "Zee" also. Maunder and James Stacy as Johnny Madrid Lancer played so well against each other, even in brief scenes, it was a shame that they didn't have more episodes together. The best "together" show, besides the series pilot, was called "Juniper's Camp".
