In the Super70s, I was a teenage and watching anything British (unlike every other teen I knew). This show in particular, I remember, and until I found this site, had no one else who shared this lovely memory...thanks! I first saw this pair on Upstairs, Downstairs and have seen them both in many other things (including the movie Shirley Valentine-no one knew who she was, but I DID!). I've been in love with the British, especially their brand of humor, I suppose, ever since I first saw and hear the Beatles (I was 9). I have been watching EastEnders since it's inception and am so upset that we are about 4 years behind the current episodes here in Philadelphia. (I recently got BBC channel, but it's so far ahead, I'm having trouble following). Anyway, just wanted to say, keep the Britcoms coming!!

I watched these as a college student in the early Awesome80s and just last week I ran across the videos remaindered at my local bookstore. What a joy--I like them just as much as I did then and it was as if I was meeting up with old friends again. As a 20 year old I hoped that I would someday find a man just like C.D. I never did but I still like the one I did find. It is funny to reflect on how much CD's relationship with Clara impacted the way I expected a romance to proceed.

--Old But Not Dead Yet

I was 15 years old in 1979 and a rabid Anglophile. I loved the Britcoms on PBS. One night, I happened upon "No, Honestly!" --- the very first episode. I was struck by how very like Paul McCartney our John Alderton looked so I watched the show and fell madly for Pauline Collins. Not to take anything away from John. He's the consumate straightman. But Pauline blew me away. I was hooked for life. I saw every episode of the series when it ran here back then. No long after that, "Wodehouse Playhouse" ran here and I became the biggest fan of Alderton & Collins ever born in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Still, (hey there was no Internet then!) I didn't know about "Upstairs, Downstairs" until it was replayed in the US in the late Awesome80s and there was Pauline! And later, John! Needless to say I was in heaven! Today, I received my THOMAS & SARAH box set and watched the first ep. It made me want to watch the "Wodehouse..." ep, "Strychnine In The Soup" ---the best ep I have on tape from the early Awesome80s PBS run of the show. That lead me to search for "No, Honestly!". I've had the out-of-print book for years but now, I can get videos! What a great day! Now, if only "Wodehouse...", "Forever Green" and "Mystery: The Black Tower" would become available on video I could die happy!

I thought "No, Honestly" was one of the funniest Britcoms ever, and can't understand why it was never mentioned in a recent review on PBS of the popularity of Britcoms here in the U.S. All the other popular comedy shows have been mentioned, but this one was left out.

I've only caught three episodes of this HILARIOUS series, but it makes me sad that they only filmed one (half) season of it in the first place. Both John Alderton and Pauline Collins are thoroughly engaging and downright charming, in addition to being laugh-out-loud funny. Buy these videos - you won't be sorry !!!
