My memories on the set of Dan August

The episode called "The Soldier" was partially filmed in Wilmington at the Calvary Presbyterian Church before the series went on the air for the first time. I was the pastor of the church at the time and I became a good friend of the unit production manager, Phil Cook. I lost track of him after he went to work on Columbo. Michael Ontkean was "the soldier" in that Dan August episode and I had the privilege of talking with him and other members of the cast that day. The director, told me about his wife's death and how he was still in mourning. A very mixed day fun and being a part of Hollywood for a brief moment. I was paid $50.00 for "technical assistance." David Thorpe wore a button I pinned on his costume as he played the minister.
