    Loved Love, American Style!

Love, American Style was one of my favorite shows broadcast on ABC on Friday nights in the early Super70s. Back then, I was too young to date, drive, or otherwise party on Friday nights. So, what I saw on TV those nights had to keep me entertained, and LAS certainly fit the bill. It was different, in that it was an hour-long comedy anthology show, composed of separate stories within its hour-long time-slot. Many stellar guest-stars appeared on the show during its run, such as Ron Howard, Irene Ryan (Granny from the Beverley Hillbillies) and many others. The series "Happy Days" was actually a spin-off from a story on LAS, which was about an all-american family in Milwaukee, WI during the 50s. I don't think LAS is in syndication anymore, which is a shame, since it was one of the Super70s TV comedy classics.

Love, American Style was one of my favorite television shows of all time. I liked the blackouts in which were funny. I did like the new feature in 1972, called Lovemate of the Week. A centerfold girl featured every week. It was still in my dreams most of the time. Speaking of Lovemates, what did ever happened to the girls that featured every week and where are they now?

Why can't they run good, wholesome family entertainment now? The Super70s were so innocent. Well the show gave lots of Has-been TV stars a second chance…

    Re: Loved Love, American Style!

I will always remember watching Love American Style on Friday nights in the early Super70s. I was in junior high then and didn't have much else going on on Friday nights so it along with the other ABC Friday night line up was about it for me. I'd start the evening with "The Brady Bunch" followed by "The Partridge Family" ,"Room 222" and finally "Love American Style". It was a very well written show with great performances by some of our best stars of past and present. My absolute favorite episode featured Louis Nye, Robert Q. Lewis and Joanne Worley. The story centered around these friends who's annoying habits finally drove each other crazy. If anyone has any knowledge of this episode or if it can be obtained on tape please post it.
