    Memories of On the Rocks

Wow! I've been searching the internet for any information about this show. This is the first acknowledgement I've seen that it ever existed! The thing I remember about this show was that near the beginning, one character would say something funny, and all the other characters would crack up, except for one who just didn't get it. Then, near the end of the show, that dumb guy would start laughing for no apparent reason. Someone would ask him what's so funny, and he would reference the commend made at the beginning of the show. Can't believe I remembered that much! I was only 11 years old at the time.

The show was set in a prison (hence the title of the show). Rick Hurst was one of the actors in the series. They used to make moonshine and store it in their iron. That is about all I remember right now.

Wow! Talk about a flashback! I remember this show being pretty good. Set in prision as previously mentioned. I think the "dumb guy's" name was Clever. He was in for stealing 14 cars (it was actually one truck with 14 cars on it). As for the rest of the other characters...can't recall.

Oh I wish this show would air again!! It was the greatest! The one character mentioned already "Cleaver" was a big ol farm boy. . . . . one episode the others were complaining about the smell of manure or something and "Clever" would say "I like the smell. . . reminds me of back home. " Anyway, another character's name was Fuentes.

Re: Memories of On the Rocks

I think it was another character (Bobby?) who stole the 14 cars. This show made it seem fun (to a 12 yr. old boy) to be in prison. Go figure.

Re: Memories of On the Rocks

I have been searching for many months for information about this show, I thought that the name of it was "On the Rocks", but I had such a difficult time locating any information, or even anyone who recalled the show. I'm very glad that I found your website, I was begining to wonder if I had imagined the whole thing. As I read some of the other postings it brought back to mind fond memories of the show, what I never understood was why the network pulled it after such a short run, it was a very good show, much better than a lot of others that were on back then. Thank you all, for bringing this show back to life.

Re: Memories of On the Rocks

I remember three characters- Fuentes, Cleaver and Nick.

Nick was played by Bobby Sandler who, if I'm not mistaken, was a very talented juggler with a dry sense of humor much like Stephen Wright. I think he appeared on the Johnny Carson show a few times
