    Remember this sad day?

January 28th,1977-Freddie Prinze, who starred as Chico on NBC's,"Chico and The Man" with Jack Albertson, takes his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot. Apparently overwhelmed by the pressures that fame had put on him,as well as his own personal problems,he conciuosly decided to end his life. I recall this event mostly because this was the same day my family arrived in California after we moved from Pennsylvania. My brothers and I had always watched his show and it seemed like he had everything to live for (which he did.)

I do remember. Chico And The Man was my favorite show of the 70's. I really liked Freddie Prinze's character and he and Jack Albertson had terrific chemistry together. My favorite episode was perhaps the one where Chico's blind cousin Pepe visits him at the garage. That was an awesome episode and what made it so great was the chance for me to see and hear the legendary Jose Feliciano once again on national TV performing two of his classics "Light My Fire" and the theme song for "Chico And The Man which Jose wrote himself for the show. To me that was a piece of television history in that one particular episode and I will never forget it.
