    John Houseman was excellent!

"Louder, Mr. Hart. . . Fill the room with your intelligence. " I wish I could find shows today that filled my TV screen with such intelligence. John Houseman (Kingsfield) was credited with discovering Orson Welles, and the two founded the Mercury Theater.

    Re: John Houseman was excellent!

Paper Chase was one of my favourite TV programs when I was in highschool. If I'm not mistaken, PBS ran the series in the early Awesome80s 2-3 times a week. Watching John Housmann portray the legendary Harvard Lawschool Professor Charles Kingsfield Jr. was one of the main reasons I watched the show. He was perfectly cast for Kingsfield both in the original movie (1973) and the TV series.

Back then I was inspired by His performance to want to be a teacher. Before watching Paper Chase I hadn't given much thought as to what I wanted to do. Now I am a successful highschool teacher and author. I have been teaching for almost 12 years.

I owe my career to John Houseman, who by capturing the persona of Charles W. Kingsfield Jr. so perfectly, inspired me to pursue a career in education. I don't act like Kingsfield in class, but he was my original inspiration.
