    Memories of Paper Chase

The Paper Chase is my all-time favorite TV show. I loved all 4 seasons, although I do believe the first was the strongest. My favorite episodes were The Seating Chart, where Bell tries valiantly to change his picture on Kingsfield's seating chart, and The Tables Down at Ernie's, as it shows a softer side of Prof. Kingsfield. I also really liked the character of Gerald Golden in later episodes, my favorite being the 2-parter Decisions, where Golden must decide on his successor to the law review presidency. I'd LOVE to hear from other Paper Chase fans. I know we're few and far between nowadays!

I was a faithful fan and loved watching. I went to college just because I wanted to experience the world of academia as I had seen it on the show.

    Re: Memories of Paper Chase

The best dramatic series (with humor ) I ever enjoyed. Each character was interesting and had similar hangups that one would find on the Seinfeld show. The linchpin, Kingsfield, was of course the focal point of each episode. Too bad the series isn't repeated on TV Land or another channel like it. I would like to see videos for sale of the whole series.

    Re: Memories of Paper Chase

Paper Chase was a classic. The best show could never be identified each was uniquely good. However, one show that I remember was when Kingsfield came to Hart's apartment during a snow storm. I can still hear Kingsfield proclaiming "No school today". That is what big snowstorms meant to all of us including the great Kingsfield. How I wish they would bring that show back for a peak into their lifes. I always thought that Hart would follow in his mentor's footsteps.

    Re: Memories of Paper Chase

I, too, consider The Paper Chase as my all-time favorite TV show to this date. To me there has never been a better show that both entertained as well as fed your brain, in light of so many "mindless" garbage shows pumped out on the tube nowadays. If ever we could again see such quality on television on a weekly basis! I would LOVE to see this series made available on DVD/Video. How can we get a "movement" started to get fellow fans to support such an endeavor? If anyone has any ideas, please express then in this forum. I'd love to hear!

    Re: Memories of Paper Chase

I watched Paper Chase when it aired on CBS in 1978. It was such a different show than anything on the air at the time. Later when PBS rerun the original series it was great to see it again. The Showtime episodes were ok, but didnt seem to focus on Hart or Kingsfield as much as I would have liked. I have all the episodes but 1 on DVD, the one I dont have is "A CASE OF DETANTE" , apparently John Houseman hated the episode and when Showtime approached him about reviving the series he agreed under the condition that this episode never be shown again. Interesting!

    Re: Memories of Paper Chase

Simply one of the best shows ever produced for television. The real life trials & tribulations of law students, plus the impact of academic pressures to be at the top of the class are portrayed in this television drama. Every new law student's prerequisite should be to watch The Paper Chase. . . the TV show and the movie. Among the best of the best in Television !!!

    Re: Memories of Paper Chase

The Paper Chase is one of my all time favorite TV shows even after all these years. It was very well written and thoughtful stories that made you think and learn something about life and our day-to-day "contracts" we make with each other. As it first came out while I was in high school and continued during my colleg years, it's a major reason I decided to give in to mom and give college a try, and also why I stuck with it to the end even when I had many James Hart "first-days" that made it tough on this poor boy. I could easily identify with James Hart who worked his way through school and who, after a not-so-propitious start, still finished strong in the end. So it did have profound meaning to my life.

If anyone knows who currently owns the rights to all episodes, please post info here so we can write in to push for DVDs from the master copies of the work.
