Memories of The Man from Atlantis

I have a memory of a scene where Bill Bixby "magically" rolls up the window in his car without cranking the handle -- I didn't know at the time whether this was meant as a pun, because automatic car windows were just coming out, or if this was honest-to-goodness cheesiness.

Re: Memories of The Man from Atlantis

What attracted me to the Man From Atlantis was Patrick Duffy's webbed hands and how he swam like a dolphin. Instead of swimming with his arms he would have his arms at his sides and wriggle his body to move. He was found beached by his female co-star who worked at an oceanography center. And the episodes revolved around crimes on the the coastline where Duffy could be shown swimming real fast and he was could defend himself and trying to find out where he came from. The most rememberable episode was the Man From Atlantis against this giant played by Kareem Abdul Jabar who was mining gold but like an old 49er but as you could see the gold the water was invisible through this contraption that filtered the gold from the water. I also remember this episode being set in a different time too. The show was entertaining enough to a young audience of male viewers who watched shows like The Six Million Dollar Man and Super Friends.

I remember that one episode of Man from Atlantis where he declared war on the United States, but Magneto took over the Atlantean army and held his girlfriend and Susan hostage, and. . . . oh, wait, strike that. . . . wrong man from atlantis, I was thinking Namor, but this show's about Bobby. . .

Re: Memories of The Man from Atlantis

Strange show. . . . I remember one episode where there was this undersea bubble under which there was a patch of land about the size of Delaware. . .

The streams in this land were made of invisible water which flowed so fast you could lose your arm if you stuck it in the stream. . . . the Man from Atlantis demonstrated this by poking a stick in the invisible stream, and half of it broke off. . . . .

They had an interesting sub comprised of 3 or 4 bathyspheres, and Erin Gray (who later played Wilma on Buck Rogers) was part of the crew. . . . .

It's a good think Patrick Duffy accepted the part of Bobby Ewing on Dallas, it saved his career!

Re: Memories of The Man from Atlantis

Mark Harris, last survivor from Atlantis, is washed ashore in Californian beach when he was discovered by Doctor Elizabeth Merrill. She saves him (unconscious!) and discovers he has webbed hands and feet! When they go to FOR (Foudation for Oceanic Research), he, conscious and don't remembering anything, receives from Dr. Merrill, the name Mark Harris. The Atlantean and the biologist live some adventures on Cetacean to explore the undersea world (Mark can swim underwater!) and he overcomes Mr. Schubert, who wants to destroy the Earth's oceans. Starred by Patrick Duffy (that's how I met Pat!), the series ran 17 episodes and was(and is) sucessful in Brazil, Latin America and anumber of countries, except the USA and ran an only season. Man From Atlantis TV Series will celebrate the 30 years in March 4, 2007 worldwide and soon will become a movie - in 5. 1 Dolby Digital. Mark Harris forever!
