I've been an Adam 12 fan since 1968. This was the best produced and most realistic portrayal of "beat cop" police work before or since. From a technical stand-point, Jack Webb was an innovator. The concept of using three cameras and all their lighting requirements mounted on an independent rack on the actual vehicle came from his fertile mind. Actually, towing the vehicle in order to give the "car scenes" that realistic, real-time feel was another Jack Webb brainstorm. The industry standard was placing the vehicle on a low platform and towing it but the vehicle's wheels never touched the ground. There is, so much, more.
Forgive me. When it comes to Adam 12, I could go on forever. There are dozens of interesting facts regarding this show which paved the way for the "cinematography geniuses" of today. In fact, they are pale imitators who depend more on exaggerated stunts and headache inducing camera shots to mask the lack of substance in today's programs. I am a, relative, newcomer to the internet. Until now, I had no idea that my favourite program of all-time had such a legion of fans. It feels great to know I am not alone.
