    Memories of Fawlty Towers

Fawlty Towers is by far the best comedy series I have ever watched. John Cleese is amazing. I especially loved the episode with the Germans......I watch it over and over again and it still makes my eyes water from laughing. The rest of the cast is excellent too especially 'Manuel' the waiter.

It's the ultimate combination of low-brow and high-brow comedy in a perfect ballet of wickedly funny dialogue and side-splitting abuse.

I am 32 years old and I can remember watching Fawlty Towers at 6 yrs old. My brother and I are Britophiles and would have our tea and watch the hilarity. I have never stopped watching and have the full 12 (way too few!) episodes on tape and dvd. It holds such a special place in my heart and mind, and is still perfect after all these viewings and years. Love and Appreciation to John Cleese and crew!

Basil is so pitiful that you find yourself rooting for him, despite the fact that he mumbles sarcasm under his breath at everyone who comes near him! When he tries to upgrade the clientele at the hotel and serve gourmet dinners to an "upper" crowd, the results are disasterous. Each time I watch it, I hope that Basil won't drop the duck dinner on the floor and watch in horror as Manuel skates through the kitchen with it stuck on the toe of his shoe while his restless guests wait endlessly for dinner to come.
