    Memories of Centennial

Just finished watching the series again for about the fourth time since it was releasd on TV back in the early eighties. I liv in sout central Wyoming and I think the series is very educational and timeless. Where was most of the desert senes filmed? To me they look more like Wyoming than Colorado.

    Re: Memories of Centennial

I was a nine year old girl with big dreams of the American West when Centennial was first broadcast. I watched every single episode of the series with the utmost fascination and in the years following saw that outside of a few others, most mini series just didn't follow up to that standard. I read the book over and again in the following years. I had no idea just how much I had absorbed until I purchased the video series in 1999 and found myself chanting many lines with emotion. Ellie Zahm leaving the orphanage -- Ellie Zahm, you get back here. I am never coming back! And cursing that evil wagon train guide along with Skimmerhorn's massacre. I still look at each actor in respect to that role. Timothy Dalton doing 007 seemed appropriate. Gregory Harrison will always be Levi Zendt. What characters and storylines James Michener gave us that were transferred so well to the screen in this instance.

I`m Hans Taal from Scheveningen, Holland, 32 years old and I think Centennial is the best what I`ve ever seen on TV. It was on the TV in Holland in the early 80`s and I wish I could see it one more time. Forgive me my bad English.

    Re: Memories of Centennial

I have both read the novel and enjoyed the T.V. series, albeit some twenty years ago. The inspirational mini-series, but more particularly its theme music, has remained with me and I still think of it today. On a recent visit to the U.S. I found all the episodes of the mini-series in a box set for sale in a video store. Alas, the $125.00 price tag precluded me taking the tapes home. Ah well, Levi Zendt and Potatoes Brumbaugh must be content to live on in my thoughts. Bliss...

A forgotten masterpiece of American television.  A sweeping epic of Americam history that remains unequaled in all of filmdom.
