    Memories of California Fever

Yes I do remember California Fever, as being a brilliant show when I was about 12. I can't believe it only aired for 3 months! I remember writing new scripts for the show and sending them off to the American TV station. I could have been rich by now.

    Re: Memories of California Fever

It was 1979 and I was 12 and hopelessly in love with Jimmy McNichol. I loved "California Fever" so much that I recorded the theme song on my little tape recorder and took it to school for a week and played it on the school bus! I was thinking about that today and decided to try to find something about it on the internet. I'm 34 now but I can still remember the words to that song!

Good cheesey clean livin' teen pop. Like to see the very first episode again - some cool Super70s car footage on cruise night. Would have loved a firebird with a snazzy paint job like Jimmys when I was in high school. Down under we had ford anglias and hillman minx's instead.

Yes, I remember the show, as so many of us all do. And there was something more about this show I definitely remember. Who could forget the beautiful body lines, the smooth curves, the graceful movements, and that beautiful paint job! Who amoung us (at that time)teenage boys didn't want that car?! The girls were beautiful, but with a car like that you could have any girl! If anyone out there knows where I can find some pics of that beauty, I'd love to hear about it.

    Re: Memories of California Fever

I remember watching California Fever when it was shown on British television. I was about 9 years old and thought it was a brilliant tv show but after a short run though it was never shown again. Since then I have tried to no success to find some reference to it and then by chance I went on-line and came across your site and not only did I find it but also found other people remembering it to. So thank you to you and to all the people who also wrote in with there memories of it.

    Re: Memories of California Fever

First off. This website kicks a_s. I haven't ever been able to find anything on California Fever. NOTHING!!! For awhile there I thought this T. V. show was a figment of my childhood imagination. I can see there were other fans like my self that remember this incredible show.

I was 6 years old when it was on. My dad had a '70 Firebird Trans Am with a Ram Air IV 4 speed and man that car was fast. So when the show came on and Jimmy McNicol had his custom painted Firebird I went nuts. I didn't car what else was going on that day, I just wanted to see the show and listen to all the great music. The end result is that I currently restore 70-73 Trans AM's with currently owning (3) 70 T/A's right now and I have owned over 15 in the past. Not to mention 1 of the largest collections of Trans AM and Super70s memorabilia. Or is this a figment of my imagination? NOPE just checked. Its true.

    Re: Memories of California Fever

I too have fond memories of "California Fever. " As I recall it starred Jimmy McNichol, Lorenzo Lamas and the guy who played Marty McFly's brother on "Back to the Future" (I'm not absolutely positive about this). It also starred a young lady, but I cannot remember her name. If I remember correctly the setting took place mostly on the beach and the characters in the show were part of a band. I recall that many good songs were played on that show by the makebelieve band.

Hopefully if enough people share their memories, we will soon see a release of some episodes on DVD. If anyone can tell me where I can find the theme song, it would be great!

    Re: Memories of California Fever

We had it in the U. K. I must have been 10. The only scene I really remember is the guy with the car being upset at his car being scratched. I also recall my cousin having a poster on her bedroom wall.

    Re: Memories of California Fever

WOW, California Fever, this show takes me back to when I was young and didn't have a care in the world. The song Californa Fever has always played in my mind. Me and my Brother Christopher used to sit and watch this show while our Dad made us scallops in crispy batter to eat, its funny the things you remember from being young. I wanted my life to be just like theirs in the show, the sun shining and everyone happy, its funny how things turn out.

Great show, makes me so happy just thinking about it.

    Re: Memories of California Fever

California Fever had me dreaming about beaches, cars and girls too. Marc McClure was the slightly goofy guy with the truck. I remember Rick Springfeild made an appearance as the redheads 1st serious boyfriend. It was a great show which led me to travel to California to experience the lifestyle myself. It is surprising it hasn't been released on dvd, I know I'd buy it for the memories.

    Re: Memories of California Fever

From memory that particular episode referred to was about a foreign exchange student, a girl from Russia or somewhere, who was being sent back to her country by her father who was a general in the military or whatever. On the run she stole Vinnies Firebird from the beach car park. They eventually caught up with her to discover she put a small scratch in Vince's car, he cried his eyes out. The good kids they were helped the girl escape from the military bad guys ending in a dramatic chase down the street in a couple of formula one go carts they stole from the local Wally World. Dont ask me how I remember this.

    Re: Memories of California Fever

Yes! Somebody else remembers the show. I remember the episode where they entered that rusty truck in a custom competition where a flash kid entered a super car but had done no work on it hisself and so they gave to the main cast. Anyone know which album of tv hits the theme is available on? Seemed so bright and colourful to a British kid in the 'Super70s, even when we had proper long summers.

Yes! I thought I'd imagined the series too! Watched it, I think it was shown twice in England. I remember the episode where Marc entered his truck in a custom show. A flash guy also entered his seriously modified car, Marc won because the other guy never worked on his car himself. Anyone know which tv themes cd has the song on?

    Re: Memories of California Fever

Hey, its nice to see someone else thinks it was shown twice, I was beginning to think i was imagining it ! I remember it was shown first one Summer then again the following Christmas. In fact I taped some episodes on VHS and still have them......my favourite is the Sylvia Sydney guest star one "moving out" which was the first one I caught. Great feelgood show, and I still adore it 28 years later !!!
