    Memories of Carter Country

Well, I have a vague memory of Carter Country. Actually forgot about it til the other night when I saw Vernee Watson in another movie on TV land.

Anyway the one thing that I will never forget til my dying day (only 36 so let us hope that day is WAY off) is the mayor on that show. He was such a winny thing but rather funny. I think the cast was holding some sort of telethon and the mayor (whose best and only friend seemed to be his mother) decided to sing which was funny because the guy could'nt carry a glass of water let alone a tune.

There he was in all of his glory and armed with a very thick southern accent singing "be kind to yo(his word not mine) mamma cause she is yo friend".

Maybe it isn't all that funny now, but boy it kept me laughing for weeks on end as a child.

    Re: Memories of Carter Country

I do not remember much of the episode, but I remember that the mayor was confronted by some big guy when the mayor was somewhere he was not supposed to be.  The big guy turned to the mayor and said, "who's this Bozo?"  The mayor stammered a little, then said, "That's right, Bozo, Bozo Rebebe!"  Hopefully someone remembers the name Bebe Rebozo, as he was a close friend of President Richard Nixon.  Maybe you had to be living there then?
