I was a casual watcher of "Green Acres" when it originaly
aired, but this is meant to be a tribute to Alvy Moore (Hank Kimball). I met
Alvy in 1979 through a mutual friend who teamed us up for a TV pilot. Not only
was Alvy an incredible character actor, he was also a gifted writer and
producer. Well, the TV project failed, but as was the case with Alvy, we became
great friends. It seemed that everybody he worked with wanted to stay his
friend. Whether it was a big star like Jack Lemmon, or Rick Nelson, or other
character actors like James Hampton ( F-Troop), or Warren Berlinger, someone was
always at the house, just stopping by. I was about 30 when I first met Alvy, he
was in his 60's, but the generation gap was forgotten. He could relate to
anyone. When he wasn't working, Alvy spent most of his time playing in celebrity
golf tournaments, or giving his time to the Motion Picture Home for the Aged. He
was a fantastic actor, but an even greater human being. I still miss him.
