This show I remember from reruns in the afternoons. The episodes that I saw were later in the run and in color. The mother had passed away and it was up to Dad, played by Fred McMurry and Uncle Charlie ( retired USN ) to help raise a guide three teen boys. Chip, Ernie and Rob were the son's names. Later, two of the boys, Rob and Chip, would get married. Chip ran away with his girlfriend to Mexico to get married and later they had triplets. Uncle Charlie had a tough exterior but with a heart of gold. This was a very good show from what I remember as it always had a moral at the end.

My favourite episode and I don't know the name, starred George Gobel. It was actually the first one I ever watched and I watched in faithfully until "Uncle Charlie" came on board. I never cared for his role. (I think William Demarest was a great actor, but as a young boy, it was hard to like a man who replaced "bub").

The addition of Tina Cole as Katie breathed new life into the show and added a female character, one that the show had been lacking. She gave the show a new and more colorful dimension. Better scripts followed and eventually this continued with the addition of Beverly Garland and Ronnie Troupe. A nice touch to this show would have been if the character of Mike was brought back in the later years as a guest, especially when Rob married Katie or when Steve married Barbara.

I really like my three sons! I think it should be brought back! it's a wholesome show and would be enjoyed by all genertations.
