    Favorite episodes of Lucas Tanner

My favorite episode was the one in which Lucas' young friend Glendon (sensitively played by Robbie Rist) turns to Lucas for guidance and moral support. Glendon's parents are out of the country and his grandmother (with whom he lives) is hospitalized with pneumonia. Lucas provides not only for the boy's physical needs, but also helps Glendon understand about illness, and the risk of losing someone you love. Despite the risks, Glendon learns that 'love is for always', and his grandmother recovers.

My favorite episode was the one of Mr. Tanner's students died from an accident. He had been seeing one of the girls in his class secretly, and she became suicidal after his death. Tanner talked to her about his wife and son who were killed in an accident also, and it was the sweetest story. However Tanner almost lost his job because he had the girl in his home at 2:00 a.m.! The story had a great ending though!

Yes, Lucas Tanner was my favorite show. I have "grown up" to become a teacher, and guess that's why I loved it so much. I particularly liked an episode where Stanley Livingston (Chip from My Three Sons) was hit in the head, suffered a concussion, and died. It was a very touching show.

My favorite episode was also the one where one of the students died from injuries in an accident. I was 16 at the time of this episode, and it really hit home when you think about the impact teachers have on your life. I look back with fond memories at some of the teachers who helped me through some difficult times. This show was realistic, and very memorable.

Re: Favorite episodes of Lucas Tanner

I loved this show because I was a teacher at the time and thought it was very well done. About 1984 a 2-hour movie aired on the Late Late Show that I taped; it was a combining of two episodes, the one about Joyce Howell's published story that has the community up in arms, and the one about Lucas's colleague Chuck Lindstrom who is found out to be living with a woman to whom he is not married. I agree with one of the other posters who mentioned that this was one of the few shows that showed teachers in a positive light rather than mere buffoons. If this show came out on video or DVD I would purchase it in a minute.

I enjoyed all the episodes of "Lucas Tanner" and would like to purchase the series on DVD. I think David Hartman is a great actor and wished he had continued the series longer.
