    Favorite episodes of Police Story

My favorite episode of Police story was the one where Robert Forster played the divorced cop who was busy on a case of a missing little boy, and was also struggling with his relationship with his estranged family.

Re: Favorite episodes of Police Story

I was too little to remember when the show first aired on NBC, but in the early 90's it came back on reruns on cable on the AE channel. I really liked the show because it showed the life of everyday LAPD officers doing their job day in and day out. Also it captured their personnel life. It also showed how each division of the LAPD worked amongest themselves and the public they serve.

All eposides were excellent, but my favorite was I believe called " Officer Do Little. " This officer was a rookie who enforeced the law and treated people with respect. He was teamed up with a very aggressive officer who shoots first and asked questions later type. During the show the aggressive officer sees a huge guy walking down the street " high as a kite. " He attempts to jack him up, but his partner recongizes the guy whom he had encounters with and reasons and talks with him to go home. It worked and the guy went home.

Later in the episode both partners went to a assault call in a parking lot. They tried to break up a fight but they got overpowered and needed help badley. Then the huge guy they encountered on the street earlier that day was walking by and saw the officer that helped him earlier. He jumped in and saved the officers from fight.

I think in police work no matter how you deal with people you have to give them respect, tact and professionalism. From there on I watched the TV series until it went off the air on reruns. I hope there is another cop tv series like this. The ones now are good, but nothing like Police Story.

Re: Favorite episodes of Police Story

Police Story is the best cop show ever. I don't recall the name of it, but my very favorite episode was one which starred James Farentino as an undercover cop struggling to maintain balance between his work and his family, but, naturally, the family suffered. His mission was to bust a big-time drug-dealing pimp magnificently played by Fred "The Hammer" Williamson. During the course of Farentino's undercover work, he and The Hammer actually developed a friendship. The plot was quite intricate and believable. While I always want to see the "bad" guys get busted, the easy-going, friendly relationship between Farentino's and Williamson's characters made me sad to think that even though he really was a bad dude, Williamson eventually would be betrayed by Farentino. Farentino fit into The Hammer's lifestyle so well that even his wife was no longer sure which side he was on. By the end of the program, Farentino's character had not, in fact, busted The Hammer, leaving us with the impression that he had crossed over to the other side. That was a two-hour episode, I believe, and the script was so good it was spellbinding, and I hated to see it end. I kept hoping there would be another episode with the same characters continuing the story and resolving it unequivocally - did Farentino bust The Hammer or not? I wish we had more quality shows like this now. There was no gratuitous vulgarity, only some violence and hints of sexual situations, but nothing explicit - yet it was a very sexy show.
