The first episode of the Waltons was a Christmas story called the Homecoming. It didn't star the characters that later became famous on the TV series. I can't remember all the actors but I know Patricia Neal play mom and dad was late coming home for Christmas because of a bus or train wreck. John-boy wanted to become a writer but was afraid to tell his dad. This was like the Debut movie for the series. It was the most sensitive and beautiful Christmas movie ever. I haven't seen it in years.
