Some cool trivia about this great artist and TV show:
The musical director was Marty Paich. Marty (now deceased) had a son David Paich who went on to become part of the rock band, TOTO.
In 1969 MCDONALD's signed on as a sponsor of this show to introduce a new burger it was launching. It was called the "BIG MAC". Ever hear of it?
Linda Ronstadt appeared on the show and sang her songs barefoot.
The Beatles debuted a prerecorded "Get Back' on the Goodtime Hour.
David Cassidy appeared to sing "I Think I Love You" in
1971
.
Three Dog Night appeared giving John Wayne the peace sign and sang Joy To The World.
Stevie Wonder and Glen did a soulful duet on "Blowin In The Wind"
Glen helped launch the following artists on his show: Anne Murray, Jerry Reed. Glen's pianist and arranger Dennis McCarthy went on to write much of the music for the Star Trek: the next generation TV series.
A music video of "Galveston" was featured years before anyone heard of MTV on the Goodtime Hour.
and finally.... in 1969, the year the show debuted on
CBS
, Glen Campbell sold more records than the Beatles.
