Not that anyone will read this, but I was obsessed with The Immortal when I was
15 years old in
1970. I was no doubt the show's biggest fan in the world. I was
crushed when it was cancelled. Before it ended I recorded some of the shows on
audio tape and fell in love with the writing and the wonderful Dominique
Frontiere music. I continued to obssess for the next 16 years. I drew comics
about the show. I listened to the tapes in the car. Finally, some video tapes of
the series began to emerge. Then it aired on Sci Fi. As I watched the episodes,
I began to realize that, apart from the music, this was a very mediocre show. It
would have been much more interesting if, say, the character was 500 years old
and had the wisdom of the ages. Instead, he was about 45 and just ran from
Fletcher in show after show. I still think fondly of it, but what a waste!
