    Loved the Lennon Sisters

I've been a Lennon Sister fan since I was a little bitty girl. Their paperdolls is what first drew me to them but it didn't take long for me to appreciate their amazing vocal talent and their wonderful family lifestyle. This show, Jimmy Durante Presents the Lennon Sisters was I feel one of the best variety shows ever offered to tv viewers. Every week they graciously shared the stage with big name talents and newcommmers. Every show was so well done. It spotlighted to the public so much of their talent that the Welk Show never did. I like the Osmonds so it was great when they were guests on the show but the best show had to be the Christmas show. Their beloved father had been murdered by deranged fan. The set was closed for fear of their safety. They performed that show in front of family rather than fans and of all holidays, their dad was not with them. Loren Greene (Pa Cartright) from the Bonanza tv show was the main guest and wheather intentional or not took on the role of the father figure around all those Lennons, Durante and his family and Loren's family. To this day even with all their faith I don't know how the Lennons had the strength to do that show but they did. They did it and they did it amazingly. The Christmas songs, the Christmas cheer etc. If you were not a devoted fan of the Lennons you would have never known how they must have been hurting. This show had the interest to go on for several seasons. ABC made the stupid mistake of moving their time slot after the first part of the season and I think the different night and time period is one of the main reasons the show was not brought back for another year. The interest was there. America loved the Lennons....and still do! :)

    Re: Loved the Lennon Sisters

The Lennon Sisters are perhaps the nicest people in show business. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting them several times while I worked for the Allen B. Klein company (ABKCO), an oraganization that represented the Lennons for a brief time in the Super70s. Talented and graceful as performers, the Lennons are warm and friendly as people.
