Memories of the Johnny Cash show

"Hello, I'm Johnny Cash. " Those words first gained national prominence through the country music legend's ABC variety show that debuted as a summer replacement in 1969 with guests Bob Dylan (duetting with the host on "Girl from the North Country") and Joni Mitchell. Cash's holy gunfighter persona made him one of the more unusual TV variety show hosts, and the guest list was eclectic with appearances by everyone from Andy Williams to The Who. It's a show that is probably better remembered than reseen, but those memories are pleasant overall.
