I am writing to you to tell the world - or at least those who may read this -
how much Sheilds and Yarnell influenced me as a young hip-hop dancer. ''POPPING
AND LOCKING'' was the style I chose as my way of expression. This was due in a
very large part to the way in which they moved. They were what we called
''smooth''. I often have conversations with people discussing the culture of
HIP-HOP and when I tell them that two of my mentors not only don't know me, but
are in fact a ''WHITE COUPLE'' from a late Super70s TV show. There is an inital
laugh but when I remind them of the show they suddenly get it. Thanks Shields
and Yarnell.
