    Memories of Spencer's Pilots

Spencer's Pilots was a great CBS air adventure series that paved the was for tv shows like 'Airwolf' and 'Black Sheep squadron'. I used to watch it on Friday nights in 1976. I was my favorite show until Black Sheep Squardon was produced. Sadly it was put in a terrible time slot (Friday nights when all the teens and olders were out partying their brains out!). It's hard to even find a tread on the show as far as info. Art Scholl was a stunt pilot along with pilots from National Helicopter service. Christopher Stone has since passsed away sadly, same with Bill Bixby who was in the pilot show and Gene Evans. Todd Susman may still be around. My favorite episode was called the 'Drone', in which a homebuilt aircraft built and piloted by Ken Rand was out to do havoc. I real life Ken Rand was lucky to escape with his life when the craft (that had it's canopy painted over) had a loud vibration from a fake antenna mounted on it. Ken rolled the plane for an emergency landing and ended up crashing in trees.
