    Loved Gemma Jones

Simply the most delightful bit of telly I have ever seen. The humor, the sets, not to mention the outstanding acting, and the scripts! My God, where do you find another character like Merriman in all of literature, anywhere in the world. John Welsh makes me fall on my *** laughing! (Sorry) Not to mention the other fine actors. Gemma Jones is, well, of course ... well I am hopelessly in love... I am not a critic, simply a mere viewer who longs for the days of Charlie and Louisa and I wish I had known them both because I have a few quid in my pocket to buy a bolly of the best for them both. This is the best in television I have ever seen, and to prove it I bought the VHS one and two. I crave for a season three.

    Re: Loved Gemma Jones

I love watching the re-runs of DoDS. It is funny, for 'Mary' is now in a Welsh soap called Pobol y Cwm, in which she shines as Diane, but I still prefer Victoria Plucknett as Mary. As for Gemma, I miss her on Tv. Is she doing any tv work or is she mainly on the stage now. Can you give me any answers? I would love to say thank you to Gemma and Victoria for making this programme, it is watchable time after time. They made the friendship between them watchable. How they helped each other thru the good times and the bad times. Many thanks for making this programme.

    Re: Loved Gemma Jones

Have just finished watching for the 3rd time DoDS and I am led to try and write to Gemma Jones to thank her for her superb performance. So believable. How wonderful that she is still acting and in such diverse work! Harry Potter??? For sheer force of acting credibility, one cannot beat the final "leaving each other" scene" of Charlie and Louisa after he is married. It broke my heart. I know they will come back together but for the moment, the sadness was permeable! How neat to know that Mr. Cazenove is now in California and probably Gemma comes back and forth to do her wonderful movie work. We have to see films twice once we recognize her as it's always "There's Gemma Jones". Thanks, Gemma!from the lst American in a British family.
