Memories of The Six Wives of Henry VIII

I watched this series and was bitten by the Tudor bug! Only 9 years old then, my fascination with Tudor era England has never left me. In school, I would write endless book reports on this era and nearly anyone who played a part in it had my interest. I have it on VHS, dozens of books and with each new one I gasp with excitement. Although I know it will retell me what I have heard many times over it is no less a thrill. Thirty years later, it remains one of my favorite shows I've ever seen. It truly blew me away.

I wish it would run on TV again. It would be neat for a new generation to see it and appreciate it -- and I want to see the rest of the episodes!!. [Unfortunately I had to "fight" 2 brothers for the privilege of choosing what to see on television .... I was lucky to see even two episodes & that was because my mother was on my side & was able to 'negotiate' those two episodes for me]. At the age of 9 or 10, I was already fascinated by the Tudors (& English history in general) and read EVERYTHING I could about the family and the period. I have to admit that I still see Keith Michell as Henry VIII, even as I continue to read biographies and novels about the period!

The Six Wives of Henry VIII 6-DVD set is a true asset to anyone who has an interest in Henry VIII. The acting is great but the scenery lets the series down in some aspects esspecially the outdoor scenes (BBC didn't have much of a budget in 1971). Keith Mitchell is brilliant as is Patrick Troughton.
