I was three years old when this distaster happened. It changed my life for ever my father was on this air craft. he had just started a new job this was his first flight and he never made it home. I am now 33 years old and my mother pasted away May on 3rd 2002 she never remarried and never told me what realy happened that day. As I was preparing her funeral I found out he died on Sept 11 - how shocking. To top that my first son was born on Sept 11 2000. I think I would like to learn mor about that day , by the way if I ever meet the piolt I just want him to know he SUCKS.

I was in the military at the time in the submarine service. I was supposed to be on that flight with many of my fellow crewmates flying to Washington. However I was injured and was hospitalized in Charleston. Everyone I knew and went to sea with that was on that jet died. I was informed a few days after my surgery of the loss.

http://www.airdisaster.com/reports/ntsb/AAR75-09.pdf has the entire air Traffic Control Board investigation report. The pilot died in that tragic crash as well. My sincere condolences.

Re: Lost my father on this flight

I am very sorry about your father. I didn't remember that this happened on Sept. 11th. I was living in Charlotte and attending South Mecklenburg High School then. I was standing at my bus stop the morning of the crash. I remember how thick the fog was that a.m. and how much misinformation traveled around the school. One teacher told us that the plane had crashed in a shopping center on South Blvd. Two things led me to this site. Two weeks ago I returned to Charlotte for my 30th high school reunion and  also I was reading an interview with Steven Colbert and he said that he lost his father on this flight when he was a child. Sorry for everyone that was touched by this horrible day. This may not be correct but I seem to remember a flight attendant that was expecting a baby walked away unharmed from this crash. As I recall she may not have even known until later that she was expecting. I also remember the man that found his way to an older couple's house and was found sitting on their front porch. I hope life has been kind to all of the survivor's since that awful day.

    Fascella,

I may be going out on a limb with this one, but I'll put it in print anyhow...

Our parents were friends.  We lived in New Jersey at the time of the accident.  My mom said that your mom, Annette (spelling) and dad (Sal) were the best couple ever.  My dad was supposed to be on that flight.  I assume that he was working with General Electric at the time and that it was a business trip.  I was only 7 at the time.  You mom was devistated and joined the Johova's Witness church.  They kept telling her that he would come back to her.  My parents never heard from her again.  My mom knows a lot more about your parents, because they were really good friends.  My dad passed away last August.  I had a re-occuring dream that kept waking me up at exactly 2:12 AM.  That is how I found out about this flight.  I honestly never heard anything about the flight.  I just new that our friend was killed on a plane.  The 2:12 AM brouhgt me to this site.  I would be happy to put you in contact with my mom, if you want more information.  Take care!
