Memories of Burt Reynolds in Dan August

What I remember most was how Dan August was different from most big city detectives because he grew up in Santa Luisa, California and knew most of the victims and suspects personally.

To this day I think DAN AUGUST was one of the best "cop" shows on T.V. It starred a young Burt Reynolds who played Det Lieutenant Dan August in a small coastal town of Santa Luisa (actually it was filmed in Oxnard). The show highlighted Burt's stuntwork. He began his career as a stuntman. The plots of the show still hold up 32 years later. I have purchased several episodes from E-BAY hoever I hold out in hopes that the entire series will be released on DVD.

Dan August was the lead police investigator in a telvision movie called "The House on Green Apple Road. " The character was played by actor Christopher George. George had also done a pilot that year called "The Immortal". Both shows were picked up to go to series that fall by ABC. George chose to go with "The Immortal" and Reynolds got the "Dan August" role.
