    Love the Captain and Tennille!

I have in my video library an episode of the ABC-TV Series and it is all great. What I liked the best in this episode with Bob Hope, John Travolta and Redd Foxx was in "Boogie Fever" realizing how extraordinarily talanted Toni is. She can really move (Daryl hates to dance). Toni shows great dance ability, too bad the hubby hates to dance.

Re: Love the Captain and Tennille!

Like the previous person's post, I have the same episode of Captain and Tennille's ABC-TV series from 1976. It seems like everyone has that specific episode but no one can get their hands on another episode. If anyone knows how to locate another episode, please email me. However, once a week on Monday night at 7:00 p.m. on ABC I tuned in to see the two most talented duo in pop history. Most people don't know, Captain and Tennille continued touring for nearly thirty years after their shows demise. Captain and Tennille will go down in pop history. What makes Tennille so outstanding is the fact that she not only sings, she plays keyboards, writes music, acts, dances....etc. the list goes on and on. Most talented icons don't have that many talents, however Toni Tennille does. Their 20 years of romance CD did not include Tennille's rendition of "Wind Beneath My Wings". Toni did a remarkable job. Just a bit of trivia. Cher approached Toni Tennille in the late seventies and asker her to write a song for her. Bam, Toni wrote "This Is Not The First Time", however, Cher turned it down because she didn't feel it was rock-n-roll enough for her and her then group called "Black Rose". Captain and Tennille decided to pen the song in their own repetoir and it became a million seller. Way to go Toni. As far as how many episodes were taped of Captain and Tennille's variety show, however, I do know it didn't make a second season. Too bad they didn't cut more tunes from the show on any of their albums.

Re: Love the Captain and Tennille!

I have to agree with Jerry. The Captain and Tennille show was a permanent Monday night fixture in our household. Too bad it didn't make a second season. To solidify what was previously written, Captain and Tennille commanded several well known guests, including "Heart", "Charlie's Angels", "The Happy Days cast", John Travolta. Their music became part of our memories from the Super70s and early Awesome80s. Toni Tennille proves she is a well renowned singer and celebrity and also sings big band music as well. Tennille also hosted her own television show called, what else but, "The Toni Tennille show". She is a great entertainer and can dance as well as she sings.

Re: Love the Captain and Tennille!

I was 11 years old and a HUGE C&T fan when this aired. I have most of the episodes on aging cassette tapes and I can still remember many of them even though I haven't listened to them in years...wonder if they're still playable?? :) The comedy was probably the corniest stuff ever to air on TV; but the music was always good. It gave Daryl and Toni a chance to show off their amazing musical talents. If this had been strictly a musical program instead of a variety show, it might have lasted longer. I wonder if I will ever get to see it - as opposed to just listening to my tapes - again? That would be a nostalgia trip to end all nostalgia trips! I probably remember the final episode best of all: Daryl and Toni provided a preview of their upcoming 'Come in from the Rain' LP, to my sheer delight; Daryl told a hat joke that my parents actually thought was funny; a scripted pie fight degenerated into an ad-libbed free-for-all. Not a bad way to make your exit! (And I think I could identify with Daryl: he was pathologically shy, just like me!)
