"Elton John & Bernie Taupin are probably the most prolific singer & song writer team of the past 50 years. Bernie's lyrics hit an emotional chord with practically everyone that hears them. Elton John is an expert song writer/piano player & and has a depth of vocal range that make you sing along with most of his songs. Ranging from rockers such as "The Bitch Is Back", "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting", & "Bennie & The Jets", to ballads that have a "hymnal quality" like "Levon" , "Candle In The Wind", or "Skyline Pigeon" to the bluesy "Amoreena". In 1970, (my sophomore year of high school) Elton came along with the best live performances you could imagine. He wore the wildest outfits, and sang ballads that would melt your heart. I'm fortunate to have seen him live at that time right up to the present day, and he never dissapoints. Let me tell you that if you have never seen Elton in concert do so (for your own gratification) the next time that he performs in your area. Trust me, you will walk away an instant fan, and will want want to hear more of the 30 plus years of Elton & Bernie Taupin's extensive catalog of songs. The rest is up to you. "I discovered Elton John's music in early 1974. I 1st heard it on my mothers nightstand radio,"B-B-B-Bennie and The Jets!" I had no clue then what he was saying. A few more songs and years later I bought Greatest Hits,then G.H. Pt. 2 and then part 3. I also have many of his best LP's (on vinyl thank you.) I have Empty Sky, Elton John, "Friends" 1971 movie sountrack, Good-bye Yellow Brick Road, Honkey Chateau, Caribou and Rock Of The Westies. Oh! ..and 11/17/70 - a live LP. I have the Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits and he is the #1 act of the Super70s. He edged out Mr. McCartney by just a few points. As of 1999, he has 59 top 40 hits. I hope he at least gets one more! "I just saw Elton John and Billy Joel in concert on May 8, 2024 at the Allstate Arena out in Rosemont, Illinois. He was great as usual. I remember seeing Elton John back in 1976 for the first in his very outrageous suits. He was more subdue this time but just as great. I have been an Elton John Fan since he first began is career as a singer and song writer along with Bernie Taupin. Ride On Elton. I love you. Those Were The Days My Friend.
