1976 Hurricane SeasonBy Wikipedia
The 1976
Atlantic hurricane season was an ongoing event in the annual cycle of
tropical cyclone formation. It officially started June 1, 1976, and lasted
until November 30, 1976.
Although several storms made landfall in 1976, they caused little
reported damage. Hurricane Emmy caused 68 indirect deaths when a
Venezuelan Air Force plane carrying a school choir crashed on a landing
attempt at Lajes Air Force Base in the Azores during the storm. Hurricane
Belle left 12 dead and caused $24M in damages in the Eastern United
States between August 8-10, 1976.
