Football Cards of the Super70sBy Patrick Mondout
Welcome to our look at the football cards of the Super70s! We've got
pages for all the major sets of the decade (and the Awesome80s
too) as well as a complete checklists. Use the links on the left (under
the green heading "Football Cards") to get started.
A number of memorable sets were produced in the Super70s. There was the
1970 Kellogg's 3D set, the hard to find
O-Pee-Chee Canadian Football League sets of 1970,
1971, and 1972,
and the super rare Topps Mexican set of 1977.
Unfortunately, no one thought it worthwhile to print WFL
cards (unlike the Topps ABA, O-Pee-Chee
WHA, and later Topps
USFL issues). Still, it was a great decade for football cards with
more cards than ever before.
For those of you who collected gridiron cards in the Super70s, enjoy
your trip down memory lane! For everyone else, check out what the cards
were like before overproduction destroyed the hobby for us set collectors.
