The Bob Newhart ShowBy Persona Non Grata
Bob Hartley (Bob Newhart) was a Chicago psychologist with droll,
understated manner. He lived in a high-rise apartment with his wife
Emily (Suzanne Pleshette), a substitute teacher. Neighbor, Howard Borden
(Bill Daily), a divorced 747
navigator, treated the Hartley's apartment as his own and never bothered
knocking. Bachelor orthodontist, Jerry Robinson (Peter Bonerz), had
an office adjacent to Bob's and they shared a zany receptionist, Carol
Kester (Marcia Wallace).
Brazen and amusingly audacious with frizzy red hair, Carol, generally
managed to get the best of her two bosses. Bob treated a variety of
patients with emotional problems ranging from insecurity, anxiety, and
depression to extreme paranoia. One seen frequently was, Elliott Carlin
(Jack Riley), a neurotic personality totally lacking self-confidence, with
a severe persecution complex. Bob's treated his patients
individually and in therapy groups where they often had uproarious
interactions.

This was my favorite show of all times because there were so many lines that I still use today. Does anyone know on which episode this occured: Emily asks Bob to take out the garbage because garbage day is "tomorrow" to which Bob responds,"Ah, this must make today garbage eve!" Also there is another episode where they go to an Ice Cream parlor and Bob does not want to be embarrassed so he just orders a single scoop. The waiters sing, "Party Poop! Party Poop! You just got a single scoop!" I love this show!! --musiktchr | Note: This is just a random sample of the The Bob Newhart Show messages in our TV forums!
