ColumboBy Leona Jean
"Columbo" was not one of your run-of-the-mill detective
shows. Each episode began with an expertly carried out murder and you
always knew who did it. Then along would come Columbo in his dilapidated
1959 Peugeot. He would climb out of the car looking as disheveled as his
car was dilapidated.
He went about the scene smoking a cigar and making references to his
wife "Mrs. Columbo" (who was never shown) and his dog. He
appeared to be disorganized and bungling but that was of course
misleading. He took notes, re-questioned increasingly annoyed suspects,
and, like Perry Mason, he always solved the case.
Columbo would become nerve racking to the killer, as he would show up
wherever they were and question them. And just when the killer began to
think they might get away with it, Columbo come back with his trademark
"just one more thing."
McMillan and Wife, McCloud,
and Columbo were the three original rotating series in the NBC Mystery
Movies.

My favorite episode was "A Matter of Honor" starring Ricardo Montalban, Pedro Armendariz Jr., and A. Martinez probably because it was not a question of who or how but why the crime was committed. --Anonymous | Note: This is just a random sample of the Columbo messages in our TV forums!
