Streets of San FranciscoBy Anonymous
The Streets of San Francisco, was a no frills 1970's cop show, which
partnered the seasoned police veteran detective, played by Karl Malden
(Mike Stone) and rookie police inspector played by Michael Douglas (Steve
Kellor). The show portrayed stories of the time, with social issues,
runaway teens, drugs, hippies, street people, and the rich, who got
involved with murder. But it was never preachy. This show used old fashion
police investigation, with no frills, no lollipop licking detectives, just
human interaction. One of the best things was, that this show didn't try
to play up the matinee idol good looks of its younger star (Douglas) which
made it good. There was no running around and shoot up the scenery, in
fact the show may have given the city of San Francisco a boost, with the
way the show was shot around the cities beauty.
All in all The Streets of San Francisco was one of the best in the
'70's and still holds up today.

I absolutely loved Streets of San Francisco! My family was on vacation there once and they filmed a couple of scenes at our hotel (which are now condos!). Of course, this was after Michael left the show, but it was still cool to watch them film. San Francisco's always been my favorite city and Streets will always be my favorite show! --Bearness | Note: This is just a random sample of the Streets of San Francisco messages in our TV forums!
